Questions!

1. What does a STOP mean.

Through the combination of aperture and shutter speed to form an appropriate measurement of exposure, ‘Stops’ are used to manipulate the use of light measurement ratios to form a correct exposure.

 2. What is the range of apertures on your camera (making sure you give only full stop differences)

4, 5.6, 6.3, 8, 11, 16, 22

3. What is the range of shutter speeds on your camera ((making sure you give only full stop differences)

1/15s, 1/30s, 1/60s, 1/125s, 1/250s, 1/500s, 1/1000s, 1/2000s, 1/4000s

4. You have an ISO of 400, a shutter speed of 1/125th and an f-stop of F5.6.a)     I ask you to open up the aperture to let more light in by 2 stops. What would you change your reading to?

F2.8 1/500s

b)     Now, back at your original setting, close down three stops. What is your setting now?

F11 1/15s

 5. What are three ways you can measure exposure?

Metering on a camera, Light measurer, Histogram.

6.  If in a given situation ‘correct’ exposure is achieved by using 125 @ f8 at ISO 100, give the shutter speed and aperture combinations required for "correct exposure for the following ISOa)ISO 200, b)ISO 400, c)ISO 1600, d)ISO 25, e)ISO 3200

a)F5.6 1/250s b)F4 1/500s c)F1.4 1/2000s d)F11 1/60s e)F1 1/4000s

 7.  When you use a high ISO you get image degradation. With film this is called increasing the size of the grain. With digital we don’t refer to grain, we refer to

-it as "Noise."

8.  On your camera, what is the difference between AUTO mode and MANUAL mode?

"Auto" mode makes a decision of correct exposure based on the light reflected from the subject with a light meter, manual mode allows you to have full control on the entire exposure.

9.  All in-camera meters try to render the scene as a mid-tone. So if the mid-toned scene is rendered appropriately, what will happen to the light toned scene (white)?

It will appear under exposed.

And the dark toned scene (black)?

It will appear over exposed

10.  What type of metering do built-in camera meters use?

Reflective light metering
